The gold standard for efficient and sustainable oil, fat and bio fuel purification, Tonsil is a naturally-active bleaching earth and has been used under the branch name of ‘fuller’s earth’ (covering any clay material that has the ability to decolourize oil or other liquids without harsh chemical processes) since about 1880 and has been extensively used in the refinement of edible oils and fats for well over 100 years.
Historically, Tonsil was used by ‘Fullers’ or people that cleaned wool textiles but modern uses of Tonsil include as absorbents for oil, grease, and animal waste (cat litter) and as a carrier for pesticides and fertilisers. Minor uses include filtering, clarifying, and decolorizing; active and inactive ingredient in beauty products; and as a filler in paint, plaster, adhesives and pharmaceuticals. It also has a number of uses in the film industry and on stage.
